"The day the Mountain Blew Apart"

In Language Through Literature we read a story calls "The day the Mountain Blew Apart". After reading we talked a lot from the story and we complete a fotocopy answering a questionarie and completing a chart. This story is a HISTORICAL NARRATIVE. A historical narrative is a story of a historical event, people and the places are true, but it is written as a story. Another possible of stories can be Titanic and The impossible.

The story is about a mountain called St. Helen  that had made an eruption in Washington, this happened on May 18 th 1980. Jerry Wheeler was a man who managed to survive during the eruption, he was just enought away (15 miles)from the volcano. And Davis Johnston was a goverment scientist who was studying Mount. St Helen. He was watching the volcano from a ridge top less than six miles away.
The magma from the volcano had been rising and pushing inside the mountain, making it expand until the breaking point, and a huge crater was left on top the volcano. When it erupted he killed 57 people including David Johnston.
Because of the ash all the sky was dark and all the people leaving near the volcano had to stay in their houses because they couldn´t breath. The forest was completely destroyed and many species had died.
To get back to life gophers works like plows bringing the rich soil to surface, ELK bones help flowers to grow and the forest will takes many years to recover.
